About Amritha
Amritha Shenoy is a skilled Hindustani classical vocalist and educator, recognized for her captivating vocal performances and workshops at various festivals and esteemed organizations. Amritha’s journey in Hindustani Classical Music reflects her dedication, passion, and continuous effort to uphold the rich heritage of Indian classical music.
Training
Amritha began her training in Hindustani Classical Vocal at the tender age of 6 under the tutelage of Pt. Madhav Bhat of Udupi, who was a distinguished Vocalist and prolific Guru representing the Kirana, Agra, and Gwalior Gharanas. She later continued her musical journey under the guidance of Shri Y.G. Patil from Karwar and Smt. Sandhya Prabhu from Kumta.
Upon moving to Pune, Amritha had the great fortune to be trained and mentored for six years by Vidushi Jayashree Patnekar, a disciple of the late Pt. Gajananrao Joshi, a renowned Violinist and Vocalist representing the Gwalior, Jaipur, and Agra Gharanas.
Currently, Amritha is under the tutelage of Smt. Apoorva Gokhale (granddaughter and disciple of Pt. Gajananrao Joshi).
Amritha is also under the tutelage of Pt. Yeshwant Mahale, a scholar, musician, and composer representing the Agra Gharana.
Education & Professional Experience
Education
Amritha has excelled academically, earning her Master’s Degree in music with a Gold Medal from Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune in 2021. She was honored with this prestigious award by the Minister of State for Government of Maharashtra, Hon'ble Dr. Vishwajeet Patangrao Kadam.
She also holds a B.Tech degree in Computer Science but has chosen to dedicate herself full-time to her passion for music.
Professional Experience
Before dedicating herself entirely to music, Amritha worked for renowned organizations such as Cognizant and HSBC Global for over 6 years. Her time in these roles enriched her with valuable experience and skills that complement her musical journey.
Amritha is one of the founding members of the Mumbai-based music organization, Hamsadhwani Music & Arts Foundation. This organization is committed to serving Indian Classical Music by preserving and propagating its rich tradition and heritage.
Apart from her own training under esteemed gurus, Amritha is also a prolific teacher, imparting her knowledge to over 25 students across different age groups and geographies. Her dedication to teaching ensures that the rich tradition of Hindustani Classical Music continues to thrive through the next generation of musicians.
